2009 Five Mile Run |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This year’s five mile sponsored run proved again to be very popular with almost 200 taking part. This event is held every year on (Bank Holiday Monday) the last Monday in October. Approximately €4,000 was raised which exceeded all expectations considering the current climate. All participants were treated to a barbeque afterwards in MSJ and medals were presented to all that took part. First passed the winning line was Reece Mc Enteer, Padraic Donagh and Peter Corrigan. The sponsorship that was got from the run was fantastic with a lot of cards over the €100 mark. Ryan Carry’s sponsorship card was €140, other players that exceeded the €100 mark were Stephen Clarke, David Larkin, Shane Duffy, Cian Shekleton, Diego Gilsenan, Kieran Greene and Stephen Mc Kenna. One player that broke all records for sponsorship was Brian Sheenan who got €580. Brian had four cards and secured the sponsorship from many of his fishing buddy’s. Brian is an excellent goalkeeper and can also play in midfield for his U-9 team. When he is not playing soccer he is fishing and is also a regular visitor to Anfield to see his favourite team. Brian’s U-9 team got to the CUFL U-9 Final but lost out to local rivals Bailieboro Celtic. |
